*NEW! Ethiopia, Rachia - Natural Grade 1
*NEW Ethiopia, Rachia - Natural Grade 1
Cherry • Stone Fruit • Milk Chocolate
Ethiopia Aricha
Origin: Ethiopia
Region: Yirgacheffe
Farmer: Aricha smallholders
Altitude: 1,945 MASL
Process: Natural
A beautiful expression of Yirgacheffe, this lot brings together ripe strawberry sweetness, bright citrus and a soft, creamy milk chocolate body.
In the cup, expect cherry-choc and a medley of juicy stone fruits, with a syrupy texture.
Coffee farming around Yirgacheffe remains largely traditional, with smallholder farmers often intercropping their coffee with food crops. Most farms are also organic by default, with little to no use of synthetic fertilisers or pesticides. Much of the work is carried out by hand, often by the farming families themselves.
The coffee cherries are selectively handpicked before being delivered to the washing station, where they are carefully sorted to remove underripe, overripe and damaged fruit.
For this natural lot, the selected cherries are then spread in thin layers across raised drying beds and slowly dried for around 18 days. Careful drying and traceability throughout the process help preserve the vibrant fruit character that makes Yirgacheffe coffees so distinctive.
