Brazil Vale do Cerrado, Natural

from $15.50

Tasting notes: Cherry-chocolate • Creme Brule • Syrupy-smooth

The Canastra Coffee Region, surrounding the Serra da Canastra National Park in Minas Gerais, boasts coffee plantations on levelled terrains up to 1,200 metres. A blend of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes, the area is home to the source of the Säo Francisco River. Recently granted a geographical indication label, it stands as an important coffee-producing region in Brazil.

It is here that Claudeci and his wife Idivane, owners of Fazenda Vale do Cerrado, work together with their three sons on the family farm. Over the past decade, they've dedicated efforts to specialty coffee studies, aiming to enhance quality and foster sustainability across their operations.

Vale do Cerrado features flat, fertile terrain at altitudes spanning 860 to 1,200 metres. The 350-hectare cultivation primarily includes Arabica coffee varieties like Catuai and Catucai. The harvest at Vale do Cerrado is mechanised, while the Araüjo family processes their coffee using the natural method. For drying, certain batches undergo 100% patio drying, while others utilise rotary dryers to complete the process.
